Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils from botanical sources (flowers, herbs and aromatic plants) to achieve relaxation and relief from stress and other disorders.

In aromatherapy, the essential oils are applied to the body in different ways: massage, inhalation, bath, creams, compresses, etc. As a rule, they are not taken internally.

In this type of treatment, minute quantities of the essential oils are absorbed into the bloodstream through the skin or the lungs (in inhalation therapy). They interact with the body’s chemistry to counter stress, boost the immune system and help with a host of medical problems. However, aromatherapy does not replace conventional medicine.

The logic behind aromatherapy is based on the different compounds of the essential oils assisting the body by stimulating its natural healing action.
