Anecdote

The spear mint was already known to the Hebrews, who used it to make a sacred drink. As for the Romans, they enjoyed it extensively in their kitchens for sauces. In the Bible, the Pharisians paid a tithe on spear mint. It is the mint used by restaurants and ice cream makers.
